This is a beauty, solid Oak. Volunteers, board members, and interested observers. What a view. John Stewart beginning the critical final cuts. The giant Oak on its way down. An expert job by John and his crew. This tree measured 80 feet from bottom to top and over 9 feet around the trunk.

January 4th 2005 marked the start of the building process that will create a living exhibit at the Chittenango Landing Canal Boat Museum. Thanks to the talents and generosity of John Stewart, owner of Chittenango Landscapes, the museum now has locally harvested oak which will be milled and dried at the museum. The resulting lumber will be used to create an ongoing exhibit demonstrating canalboat building techniques of the 19th century. Thanks again to John and crew for their time and expertise, and a safe job too!
